My newest distraction...maybe

Ok so on Sunday I decide to do something I never ever do...click on one of the little ads on Facebook. There were a cute pair of shoes in the ad and it said something like get cute shoes for $39.99 and I couldn't help myself. That is how I signed up for JustFabulous shoes...

Anyway, I of course am going to reserve judgement until I get my shoes and purse next week, but if the reviews and/or the pictures of the shoes/bags that the "personal shoppers" picked out for me are any indication, I think I am going to have a new distraction. Here's the shoes and bag I picked out for this month.

I can't wait to find out if this is worth the hype!!!

Living the Organic Life - Week 2

This marks the 2nd week since I've decided to take a deeper look at the things that I've been eating. And I couldn't have had better timing due to the egg recall from this past week. It was nice knowing that the eggs that I'd purchased weren't caught up in the recall.

I'm starting to have a good idea where to get stuff. There's a place in Brookside that sells meat from a local farm and I must say that the food is good. I've noticed that my energy level has picked up significantly too. I didn't even mind cooking today...I made caribbean jerk chicken. I'm also going to bake some organic banana nut muffins this evening...yum!!

Anyway, that's my update for now...

Great Curry Chicken Recipe

On Day 2 of Organic eating I had bacon and eggs from animals that lived on a farm and were not fed hormones and antibotics for breakfast. And I must say that it was good...especially the bacon. I don't think bacon has ever tasted that good before.

For dinner I prepared Curry Chicken using Organic (Free Range) Chickens. Here's the recipe!

2LBS of Chicken
1TBSP of Curry Powder Spice
1 TBSP of Cooking Oil (I used Olive Oil)
1 Medium chopped onion
Salt and Pepper to taste
1 1/2 C water
1 C of coconut milk

Directions: Add Cooking Oil to medium size pot. Saute onion on medium heat. Add Curry powder and stir. Add 1/2 cup of water and stir to make the sauce. Add the Chicken. Add salt and pepper and stir. Add remainder of water and cook covered for 30 minutes. Add Coconut Milk and simmer for 5-7 minutes. Serve over rice, pasta, or with bread.

I've still got enough for leftovers so I'll probably freeze some to take with me for lunch later on this week. The chicken is so fresh and tastes great though!

An Organic Experience!

I watched the movie Food Inc. a couple of weeks ago and I walked away from that movie resolved to make better (healthier) food choices whenever possible. Well today I went grocery shopping and bought all organic foods including meats, veggies, bread, milk, cheese, and eggs.

First impressions...the food certainly was more expensive than just buying the stuff in the grocery store. I also found that I had to go to more than one place to find different things. I think after today I have a better feel for where I can get different things like the best bread, milk, fruits/veggies, etc. There is another organic butcher in Tulsa that I'd like to try out but I didn't get out to them in time today...I'll have to hit them later on this week.

I must say that the food has a much richer flavor. Also, it tastes more like it did back when I was a kid. One key example would be the wheat bread that I ate this afternoon. It tastes the way wheat bread used to taste to me as a kid which convinces me that they've been modifying the stuff in the store.

I've also noticed that I get fuller faster on smaller portions.

I'm cooking dinner tonight and I'm looking forward to getting the free range meat that I have tonight. I have a choice between the chicken and the beef...yummy.

While the food was more expensive I can't help but walk away with the feeling that I'm doing the best thing for my health by doing this. Here's to a good and healthy meal...Cheers!

Lazy Sunday

It's a nice rainy Sunday...the perfect day for relaxing with movies, bonbons, and lots of nap time! Looking forward to making the most of this lazy day. This will be my nice little break right before the stresses of the work week begin again tomorrow.

I picked up several new videos from the store...I've got my chocolate supply from the store...I've got my warm comforter already set out on the living room couch...and I've got the music flowing on Pandora...aah, this is bliss!

Sunday Morning

Charlie, originally uploaded by KhesaP.

After a very stressful week and then having to spend the day on Saturday to decompress, I woke up this morning feeling the new day. Things were shaken, but you know that feeling you get when the storm passes that its time to rebuild and move on? That's what I feel right now..

Today I think I'll enjoy the day and do something fun. I want to feel the sun on my skin and the nice spring air blowing on my face. These of course are my Sunday morning reflections...

Slower Traffic

This is the last day of my 4 day weekend and I am at the point where I am mourning the loss of my time off. Even though it's Monday evening, it actually feels like a Sunday evening since I was off today.

Daylight saving time sucks because it means that my day was cut by an hour...the only consolation is that there is more sun in the evenings and you actually feel like going places after work...

Spring is on it's way

Today I went to the Tulsa Zoo. It was a warm 65 Degrees out and for the first time in a while I could feel that the winter may just be coming to an end soon. I got to take some pictures of the animals and it was so nice. I am starting to find myself looking forward to the times that I can just get away with my camera and take pics...its uber relaxing.

Here is a picture of one of the lions I took today...what do you think?

Searching for the Perfect Pic

Taking a break, originally uploaded by KhesaP.

I'm starting to find myself spending more and more time searching for the perfect picture. I love taking pictures because it is so relaxing and pictures have the ability to tell a story. Here is a picture that I took this past weekend at the Circus...I love this pic though...
